UPDATE: We received the following update comments regarding the below listing for Providence hospital:
“They just removed masking except specific areas which obviously exposes patients. Masking orders end on April 3, 2023.”
“Masks aren’t required. Negative tests aren’t required. Outpatient recovery area is curtained making it very hard to avoid Covid if you require supplemental Oxygen, etc.”
In addition we received information on April 24, 2023, that the Oregon Health Authority no longer mandates masking.
The Providence hospital and clinic system has been recommended as a Covid-safe and Covid-cautious healthcare system and provider of hospital and clinical services in the Portland, Oregon area. Here’s why the Providence system has been recommended as a Covid-safe provider in Portland.
The person who recommended Providence hospitals and clinics says:
The Oregon Health Authority continues to mandate masking in all health care settings statewide, of which there are many. I have personally been to two Portland area Providence hospitals as well as several smaller Providence clinics in the Portland Oregon metro area and all have maintained good masking requirements, although there is no longer a greeter who asks people to mask.
In addition, Providence has a fairly extensive Covid resources page, which includes a page with the following information:
So much has changed in recent months. For us, this means a new landscape in how we deliver care, but with the same commitment to your health that we’ve always had. Learn about the steps we’re taking to protect your health and ours.
We take your health and safety seriously. This is why we are taking the following measures to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Screening. We conduct routine coronavirus symptom screening on all patients, visitors and employees.
Masking. In alignment with Centers for Disease Control recommendations, masks are required at all times while in our hospitals and physician offices.
Distancing. We have taken steps to ensure appropriate distance between you and other patients, visitors and staff.
Sanitizing. Our staff regularly cleans waiting areas and exam rooms in between visits, and hand sanitizer stations are located throughout our hospitals.
Visitors. We are limiting people coming into our facilities to those deemed essential. This helps maintain appropriate physical distancing and reduces spread of germs.
Virtual visits. For on-demand and routine medical care, we offer virtual visits – a reliable way to see your provider from the comfort your own home.
