Drs. SonjaMae Langton-Yanowitz, Stephen Sylwestrak, and Bryson Rushing, and their Blue Sky Dental, have been submitted as Covid-safe dentists and a Covid-safe dental practice in Rochester, Minnesota. Here is why Blue Sky Dental and Dr. Langton-Yanowitz, Dr. Sylwestrak, and Dr. Rushing have been submitted.

The person who submitted the updated information for Blue Sky Dental wrote to Blue Sky on April 4, 2023, asking “I am looking for a dental office that is still taking Covid precautions as I have a family member who is high-risk. Someone recommended your office and mentioned there was an enclosed room with a HEPA system that could be requested, and that your practice was still taking precautions. Can you confirm this is still the case?”

And they got back this reply, also on April 4th, 2023:

Yes, we are still taking COVID precautions! In terms of the precautions we have, for our office square footage we would have only needed two HEPA filter systems but we went ahead and did seven, so we have a HEPA filter in every one of our operatories. We also installed a new HVAC system on our roof to filter the air even more. We screen all of our patients ahead of time and we follow communal transmission guidelines in terms of masking in our lobby but even when the threat level is low like it is right now, we still ask that all of our patients mask in the waiting room and we provide masks at the front desk for them. All of our staff masks including our front desk team and if we know that you have concerns about COVID, we are happy to have all of our staff wear N95’s for you and your family members okay! We also have two operatories that are further away from the other ones and one of them has a door on it as well, so most of our COVID conscious patients prefer to be placed in that room and we can put that in your chart as a preference so that you and your family are always placed in that room 🙂 Please let us know if you’d like to get scheduled okay! Explains the person recommending them, “Masks are required for all, staff are in KN95s I think, and they do have a room in the back with a door and HEPA filter going if your request it.”

Blue Sky Dental’s dentists are Dr. SonjaMae Langton-Yanowitz, Dr. Stephen Sylwestrak, and Dr. Bryson Rushing. Blue Sky actually has a whole page devoted to their Covid precautions. On that page they say:

Here are some of the new protocols you will notice on the day of your appointment:

Upon arrival at our office, call/text us before entering the office to let us know you have arrived. We will call or text you once the office is ready for you to enter.

We ask that patients enter the office unaccompanied. For those patients who need a guardian to accompany them, we ask that this be limited to a single family member. For the safety of the family member, we ask that the family member stays in the waiting room during treatment.

Every person entering the office must wear a face covering.

Every person entering the office will be screened and have their temperature checked with a contactless thermometer.

Your appointment will start with an antiviral mouthwash to decrease any viral load in your saliva.

In addition, other enhancements we made to our office are:

Fogging every treatment room after every patient with Electrolyzed Water. This is an EPA-approved agent that clears aerosols and kills COVID-19 in 1 minute.

Putting HEPA Filters in each treatment room.

Installing a brand-new HVAC system.

Protecting ourselves and our patients by utilizing additional PPE. In the treatment room, we use respirators, face shields, eye protection, surgical masks and don new gowns for every patient.

Installing plastic sheeting in reception areas to control air flow.

Screening our team members daily for COVID-19 symptoms and taking their temperatures.

Intensifying our already rigorous cleanliness and sanitary standards, including disinfecting items and surfaces that are used regularly.
