Dr. Joel Kaines and Dr. Lindsey Cosper and their Spring Creek Dental practice have been recommended as Covid-safe dentists in Ft. Collins, Colorado. In fact, the very first thing on their website is a section on Covid, and what they are doing to keep themselves and their patients Covid-safe.
From their website:
COVID-19 Health & Safety
The Health & Safety of Our Patients and Team Comes FirstIt is our honor and privilege to take care of you and your family, and we take our commitment to your safety very seriously. We have been working diligently to stay up to date on recommendations from the CDC and OSHA, as well as the State of Colorado legal requirements and recommendations. As you will notice when you come in we have made many changes around the office. With this in mind, we are happy to share these additional steps we are taking to add peace-of-mind during your next visit. We are all in this together, and more than ever we look forward to seeing your smile!
Then the link within that paragraph goes to their full-page information about their Covid safety measures:
COVID-19 Health & Safety Measures
Air Purification
We now have air purifiers located in each operatory and in two additional common areas in our office. These air purifiers each have a HEPA filter capable of filtering bacteria and viruses, along with other particles down to 0.1microns in size. These allow for complete room air turnover every 12 minutes.
Advanced Staff Training
Each team participated in 4+ hours of additional training specific to COVID-19 precautions and new protocols to increase their knowledge and preparedness to provide safe care amidst this pandemic.
1.5% Hydrogen Peroxide Pre-rinse
Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic agent, meaning it targets a broad spectrum of microbes, including bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and viruses. As of March 2020, peroxides are the only class of mouthwash that has been recommended by the CDC and the American Dental Association for use against COVID-19.
Screening Questionnaires
Prior to entering our office, every patient must complete a 24 hour patient disclosures form, which screens for COVID-19 related symptoms, exposure, and high risk behavior. We are all relying on each other to stay safe. If you are not feeling well and/or believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19, we kindly ask that you reschedule your appointment to at least two weeks after you are symptom free without use of medication. We will not impose late-fees for those cancelling due to illness.
At-Risk Patient Hours
To add peace of mind, we have hours dedicated exclusively to our mature and medically-concerned patients.
Hospital-Grade Hand Sanitizing Stations
We have various hand sanitizing stations located throughout our office for your convenience.
Restroom Cleaning
We are wiping down all commonly contacted surfaces in the restroom in between every patient use. Though most patients are opting to go to the bathroom prior to entering our office, we are making it safe to use our restroom so that you can feel protected if you have to use it during your visit.
Cleaning Between Every Appointment
This has been and continues to be our standard of care. All contacted/exposed surfaces in the treatment rooms are cleaned with a surface disinfectant that works against viruses, fungi and bacteria. In addition to this, we cover many of our surfaces with single-use protective barriers for added protection of harder to clean surfaces.
CDC-Approved Instrument Sterilization
This is also a standard procedure at all times. We sterilize our instruments in an autoclave which uses high heat and pressure to destroy even the most resistant bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
N95 Respirator & ASTM Level 3 Masks
Our team member smiles are protected behind N95 masks whenever providing aerosol-generating procedures. We also have surgical masks available to our team members, and have supported the use of ‘double masking’ for anyone who is interested (this goes beyond our state and national recommendations).
Face Shields & Glasses
In addition to our masks, we are requiring that all clinicians wear eye protection and a face shield when providing care. Unfortunately this makes it a bit harder to hear us, so please let us know if we need to speak up!
Isolation Gowns
When appropriate, our team will utilize another layer of protection to minimize the spread or absorption of airborne particles.
Safety Checklists
Though this isn’t something you will see, we have multiple checklists in our office to ensure that any contacted surfaces throughout the office are wiped down multiple times throughout the day.
Work-only Clothing and Shoes
We now require that all clinical team members change into scrubs, shoes, and a lab coat at the beginning of their day, and change out of these clothes and shoes prior to leaving the office in order to protect both our patients and team.
Advanced Chairside Suction
We have implemented additional chairside high speed evacuation to minimize aerosols in both the doctor and hygiene rooms. Rubber dam isolation, isolite isolation, or Releaf system evacuation will be used whenever possible.

You may notice any and all reference to C-19 has been removed, but air filtration remains.
