Doctor Michael “Dr. Mike” Hoerger, of the Tulane University School of Medicine, has created a project offering up to two free air purifiers, up to 50 masks, and up to 5 rapid Covid tests, for cancer patients and their families anywhere in the United States.
All one has to do in exchange is fill out a baseline survey that takes about 10 minutes, and then agree to a 1-hour follow-up survey, by telephone, about a month later.
At the time of this writing Dr. Mike has a waitlist for the free air filters, masks, and tests, owing to some attention from the press, but he urges people to sign up on his waitlist, as he anticipates the stock being replenished!
On his Covi-Can project website Dr. Mike explains that while currently their supply is depleted, “If you or a family member are undergoing cancer treatment in the U.S., please join our waitlist so we can reach out ASAP when more Kits become available. We have applied for a grant to provide 1,000 more kits.”
In addition, says Dr. Mike on the website, “We have added instructions for how to build your own air purifier as well as suggestions for masks, tests, and HEPA air purifiers we use and recommend (all unpaid endorsements). We wish we could do more! -Dr. Mike”
