Robert Jeffries, owner of ‘My Dad Can Fix Anything LLC’ has been recommended as a Covid-safe provider of HVAC heating, cooling, and furnace repair services in Colorado. Here’s why My Dad Can Fix Anything has been recommended: “I am at extremely high risk for Covid, and so have been isolating for over 2 years (even if I got a mild case of Covid the long Covid could do me in). So when my furnace went out, and it was around 30°, I was really stressed.”
They go on to say:
Fortunately, a few weeks earlier, when I had thought that I might need to have someone come in (but didn’t) I got fully prepared, including creating a Corsi Rosenthal box, making a full plan for how I would create the safest air flow to exchange the most amount of air before going back in my house, and getting some really beefed up masking options. But the one variable was who would be the repair person coming into my house, and how willing were they to mask and observe my precautions.
Having the great gift of foresight (from having though I’d need someone to come in earlier) I had called around and spoken with a few furnace repair people, gauging how comfortable I would be with them coming into my house by their responses. I knew that I wanted to deal with a small owner-operated business, because you are dealing directly with the person who will be coming to your house, rather than a dispatcher who can tell you that whomever they send will wear a mask, but can’t actually promise that.
Robert with ‘My Dad Can Fix Anything’ was by far the one who gave me the least cause for concern. He said he understood, and he agreed to wear an n95 mask that I provided (the individually packaged 3M Aura onto which I had taped wearing instructions).
While he was in the house I hung out in my car in my garage. Robert stayed on my lowest level, and whenever he needed me to turn the thermostat up or down (the thermostat is in a second floor level), he would text me and I would turn the thermostat up or down remotely with the app connected to my thermostat. He never once made me feel bad or questioned what I’m sure was a weird arrangement for him! When I told him that I couldn’t go back in the house for a few hours after he left, he didn’t blink an eye.
In addition to him taking my precautions seriously, he took very good care of me/my furnace. He had to come a total of two times: when he came the first time, in the late afternoon, he thought he had fixed it, and then after he left it turned out it had something else going on also (not his fault, the furnace *was* running when he left). After I got back into the house I let him know that the furnace was again not working he offered to either come right back that night, or first thing in the morning, and also offered to bring me space heaters for the night.
I asked Robert if he was up to taking these sorts of precautions for others, because I had friends who also were at very high risk for Covid, and he said yes, absolutely.
I don’t know how far he will travel; he’s up in Loveland, Colorado, I’m down in Gunbarrel, so at least to between Fort Collins and Boulder, and maybe further.
